This is totally fair, on one level. But again: fandom transforms texts - we can expand the fanonical narrative for a female character as easily as we can for a male character, but rarely do with as much regularity.

(2) To be more thoughtful in our fanspaces about what we reflect from our favorite media. To realize that casual dismissal or ‘hate’ of those (often minority) characters not in the spotlight reinforces the hierarchy. To use our collective creativity to do more than reflect, but to create inclusivity where canon is exclusive.
